Mission 

The Faculty Collaborative for Excellence in Learning and Teaching nurtures and supports a learning community of teachers and scholars across the Quinnipiac campus.  The Collaborative encourages all faculty members to learn, share, and reflect on means of blending classroom content and professional research in an ongoing effort to conceptualize and implement exemplary educational strategies.

Annual Fall Conference

The Faculty Collaborative sponsors an afternoon conference at the start of each semester.  The conference, which includes a keynote address and one or more workshops, is open to all full- and part-time faculty, staff and administration.

• August 25, 2009: "Educating Intentional Learners: The Challenge of Connecting Learning", with guest speaker Dr. Carol Geary Schneider

• August 19, 2008: " Creating Significant Learning Experiences", with guest speaker Dr. L. Dee Fink 

• August 21, 2007: "A Campus of Difference", facilitated by the Anti Defamation League

• August 22, 2006: "New Beginnings: Reclaiming Teaching as a Collaborative Practice", with guest speaker Michael Reder

Events Calendar

The Faculty Collaborative calendar will be maintained at the My Events Calendar. From the MyQ home page, click on "View the Campus Events Calendar" under the Event listings.  Then select "Faculty Collaborative" from the drop down menu in the "View" box at the right.

Faculty Collaborative Programs

The Faculty Collaborative sponsors a number of university-wide seminars throughout the academic year.

• Quinnipiac University Faculty Scholar Program—to build and support a community of faculty scholars interested in conducting and engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Excellence in Education Seminar Series (EESS)-- innovative ideas in education

• Technology Users Group (TUG)--sharing experiences with using technology in support of teaching. 

• Best Practices Worshops: offered annually, participants share expertise on teaching skills critical to any discipline.  The workshops were formerly called Workshops in support of the University Curriculum and New Faculty Mentoring Workshops. Recommended for new faculty and faculty teaching QU101, QU201 and QU301.

Other Faculty Development Opportunities

• Writing Across the Curriculum initiative--offers workshops and training on using writing as a means of improving teaching and learning. 

• Summer Grant Program for Projects in Support of Teaching: Applications to Academic Technology are due in March; Presentations of projects are given at the annual Teaching and Technology Fair.

• Service and Service Learning seminars are held once a semester. Also, the Office of Community Service awards grants for integrating service and/or service learning into a course.  Contact Greg Garvey or Vincent Contrucci for more information.
